For anyone thinking about buying electric outdoor power equipment, you might want to think twice. Here’s another example of these machines being cost prohibitive to fix. This customer recently spent almost $2000 on this Ryobi 40 V snowblower and he hit a chunk of ice, which jammed up the auger which caused the gears inside to strip. On a gasoline powered snowblower, you would’ve just sheared the sheer pins at $4.95 each, but on this, it took out the entire gearbox. $1350 just for the part, dealer cost. We are getting ready to throw it in the dumpster.
